Whitewater Racing World Championships 1963

In 1963 the third world championships in canoe whitewater racing took place. The title fights took place on August 13th and 14th. in Spittal on the Lieser . 14 nations took part. In addition to the previously held folding boat class, titles in the so-called R1 classes, kayaks made of fiber-reinforced plastics, were held for the first time. The team competitions, in which three boats compete as a team, were also new.
