Achim Overbeck

Achim Overbeck (born June 16, 1983 in Braunschweig ) is a German white water canoeist from PSV Braunschweig .

biography

Achim Overbeck belonged to a sports promotion group of the German armed forces from 2002 to 2004 . In addition to his professional career, he has been studying bioengineering at the TU Braunschweig since 2004 .

His sister Alke is also an internationally successful white water canoeist.

successes

Overbeck was European champion in 2009 with the team in the single kayak . At the 2007 European Championship, he took second place together with Max Hoff and Stephan Stiefenhöfer . When he took part in the 2004 World Cup, he came 4th in the team competition.

His first success on an international level was team gold at the Junior World Championship 2000 and the Junior European Championship 2001 (Classic and Team). At the 2010 World Championships in Sort (Spain) he won silver in both the individual and team rankings. In the 2011 season he won the bronze medal in both the Classic and Sprint teams at the European Championships in Krakjevo, Serbia.

At the national level, he finished second with the team in 2003 and 2007 as well as three times German junior champion.
