Days Between Stations is an American progressive rock - / art rock - band .

history

The duo of Iranian-born guitarist Sepand Samzadeh and keyboardist Oscar Fuentes got together in Los Angeles in 2003 after Samzadeh placed an ad in Music Connection magazine. The band was named after a 1985 novel by Steve Erickson . In 2004, the pair sent a CD full of improvisations to Bruce Soord of The Pineapple Thief , who used parts of it on 12 Stories Down .

For the production of their first album, Samzadeh and Fuentes hired Young Dubliners drummer Jon Mattox, guitarist Jeremy Castillo, Argentinian bassist Vivi Rama, saxophonist Jason Hemmens, singer Hollie Shepard, trumpeter Sean Erick and trombonist Kevin Williams. Samzadeh's uncle Jeffrey Samzadeh sang a few passages in the style of traditional Iranian music ( Requiem for the Living ).

The self-titled debut CD was released in October 2007 on Bright Orange Records, with the support of sound engineer Evren Goknar, who has worked for Queensrÿche , the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Yes .

The second album In Extremis was recorded with top-class guest musicians such as Peter Banks , Tony Levin , Rick Wakeman , Billy Sherwood and Colin Molding ( XTC ) and released in 2013.
