Dean Arthur Edward Cox (born August 12, 1987 in Cuckfield ) is an English football player .

Career

The midfielder started his active career at Brighton & Hove Albion . On August 29, 2005, he made his debut at home against Plymouth Argyle in the Football League Championship . This was his only appearance in a professional league that season. By the end of the season, Cox was awarded to Eastbourne Borough , with whom he was active in the Conference South and reached the league with the club at the end of the season. In his second use for Brighton & Hove Albion, now active in the third-rate Football League One, on August 5, 2006, he was sent off for two yellow cards in the away game at Rotherham United .

In the 2006/07 season Cox placed with the club in 18th place and secured league maintenance, in the 2007/08 season Cox finished seventh with the Seagulls and only just missed the play-offs. In the following year, relegation was achieved again with rank 16. Also in the 2009/10 season he succeeded in maintaining the league again with the club with a placement in the middle of the table. In April 2010 it was announced that head coach Gustavo Poyet no longer planned with the midfielder and did not submit a new contract offer to him. In June 2010, Cox finally signed a two-year contract with Leyton Orient .
