Deathrage was an Italian thrash metal band from Cinisello Balsamo that was founded in 1986 and split up around 1990.
history
The band emerged from the breakup of the band Virus. It was founded in 1986 by bassist Alex Vicini and singer Mauro Tonon, the name Deathrage being chosen by Vicini. Then the search for further members began, with Roberto "Jena" Sambusida, a friend of the two, as a drummer. Lorenzo Marconi joined the cast as guitarist. After a few rehearsals, the band decided to add another guitarist to the band, who was found in Davide Castelli. Then work on the first songs began. The texts were from Sambusida, with Vicini translating the texts into English. After the first demo was recorded, Castelli left the band and was replaced by Massimo De Stefanis. In 1988 the band signed a contract with Metal Master Records , where the debut album Self Conditioned Self Limited was released that same year . The album was also released on Discomagic Records . The sound carrier was produced by Alberto "AC Wild" Contini ( Bulldozer ). The publication was followed by appearances in northern Italy. In 1990 singer Tonon left the band and was replaced by Alex "Nico" Nicolini. After the second album Down in the Depth of Sickness was released, Nicolini left the band, so Tonon returned to the band. Keyboard player Tito also joined the band for a short time, but he soon left the band because the other members said that the instrument did not fit the band. The band later recorded a second demo before breaking up.
style
The band played classic thrash metal. The group itself described their music, whose influences range from Judas to Napalm Death to Motörhead , as "Tramp Metal", Metal Hammer / Crash described it as "Extreme Thrash Metal with a crossover influence". The texts deal with social issues and anti- Satanism and were written almost exclusively by Sambusida and translated into English by Vicini.
