Debby (polar bear)
Debby (* 1966 , † November 17, 2008 ) was a female polar bear in the Assiniboine Park Zoo in Winnipeg, Canada . According to the August 2008 Guinness Book of Records , it was the oldest polar bear in the world and one of the three longest-lived bears of all time. Debby was born in 1966 in the Soviet part of the Arctic and came to Winnipeg as an orphan at the age of one. In November 2008 she was found to have multiple organ failure and was put to sleep at the age of 42.
