Debes is an impact crater on the northeastern front of the Moon north of Mare Crisium , northwest of Tralles crater and southwest of Burckhardt . The rim of the crater is heavily eroded, the southern part is covered by the Debes A secondary crater .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the German cartographer Ernst Debes .
