Debschitz (noble family)
Debschitz is the name of a noble family from Upper Lusatia with the parent company of the same name (today Döbschütz ) near Reichenbach .
history
The family first appeared in a document with Hugo de Dobswicz in 1280 and the family line began with Christoph von Debschitz († 1496), landlord on Schadewald, Döbschütz and others.
The headquarters are in Döbschütz , a village on the Schwarzen Schöps, about 16 km northwest of Görlitz in the Görlitz district. A Hugo de Doberswize has been documented on the manor house since 1280 ( Knothe 1879 ). The palace complex, which was originally a moated castle and is known as the oldest of its kind in Upper Lusatia, is said to date back to the 12th century in some parts of the building. The family coat of arms can still be found today above the entrance.
