Johann Otto Karl Kolmar von Debschitz (born December 9, 1809 in Senditz , † November 27, 1878 in Görlitz ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and Knight of Honor of the Order of St. John .

He came from the old Oberlausitz noble family von Debschitz and was the son of the landowner Ernst von Debschitz (1779-1815), landlord on Senditz, and his wife Albertine, née von Prittwitz and Gaffron (1778-1837).

Military career

After the death of his father, Debschitz was brought up in his uncle's house on Gut Pollentschine. From May 1, 1822, he attended the cadet institute in Kulm and on April 5, 1824 moved to the cadet house in Berlin. As Portepeefähnrich he was transferred on March 30, 1827 to the 8th Infantry Regiment (called Leib-Infanterie-Regiment) of the Prussian Army and promoted there on February 12, 1829 to redundant secondary lieutenant. From October 1, 1833 to December 31, 1835, he was commanded to attend the General War School and from October 1, 1838 to September 30, 1840 was a teacher at the Division School of the 5th Division . From August 1840 to August 1841 Debschitz was adjutant of the 1st Battalion , from August 14, 1841 to October 1848, adjutant of the 6th Infantry Brigade . On November 18, 1845, he had meanwhile been promoted to Premier Lieutenant.

With his promotion to captain on October 24, 1848, he became company commander . On September 7, 1856 Debschitz received his promotion to major in the 26th Infantry Regiment in Torgau and on March 6, 1858 he was transferred to the 8th Infantry Regiment in Landsberg (Warthe) as commander of the fusilier battalion . He married on December 11, 1862 at Gut Berneuchen, Landsberg district Pauline von dem Borne (born April 18, 1830 at Gut Berneuchen, † March 2, 1912 in Göllschau near Haynau ) from the Berneuchen house. She was the daughter of the landlord Gustav von dem Borne, landlord at Gut Berneuchen, and Pauline von der Osten from the Warnitz family. Her brother Max von dem Borne (1826-1894) was a pioneer in fish farming.
