Max of the Born

Max Paul Gustav Kreuzwendedich von dem Borne (* December 20, 1826 on the manor Berneuchen , today Barnówko near Dębno / Neudamm, in Neumark ; † June 14, 1894 ibid) was a Prussian chamberlain.

Life

He came from the Brandenburg nobility family Borne (noble family) . His parents were Karl Gustav von dem Borne (* July 10, 1798 - March 2, 1888) and his wife Pauline von der Osten from the House of Warnitz (* March 20, 1801; † December 31, 1875).

Borne studied mining, but mainly dealt with questions of fishing and fish farming and eventually even became a Prussian chamberlain .

He is considered a pioneer in the field of fish farming. He was the first to breed rainbow trout and black bass in Europe. In 1890 he introduced the crayfish because he assumed it was resistant to cancer plague and could replace the European crayfish , which had already been decimated by this disease . His angling manual is still in print and was published in its 19th edition in 2007.

He had been married to Elisabeth von Dechen since 1859, she was the daughter of the geologist Ernst Heinrich von Dechen . The couple had three daughters and two sons:
