Debutante Island (from English debutante ' Debutante ' ) is an island off the Ingrid Christensen coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land . It is the southernmost island of the Søstrene in the middle of the Publications Ice Shelf in Prydz Bay . Apart from small ledges, it is almost completely covered by the ice shelf.
Norwegian cartographers mapped it using aerial photographs taken during the Lars Christensen Expedition in 1936/37 . The American cartographer John H. Roscoe (1915-2007) made the allegorical naming in 1952 .
