Dede Camara

Dede Camara (born July 22, 1991 in Fria ) is a Guinean swimmer . She was a participant in the Olympic Games in 2012.

Life

Athletic career

In Shanghai , Camara took part in the 2011 World Swimming Championships . In the competition she swam the distance 50 m chest in the preliminary round 2 in 44.44 seconds and came in 31st place. She also took part in the 100 m chest competition and swam this distance in the preliminary round 1 in 1: 40.16, here she came in 46th place.

At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London , Camara started in the swimming competition for Guinea. In preliminary 1 in the women's 100 m breaststroke, she swam the distance in 1: 38.54 minutes and did not get any further. She reached the 46th place and did not make it to the semi-finals.

Disappear

On August 11, 2012, one day before the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games, Dede Camara disappeared from the Guinean team's headquarters in London. A few days later it was revealed that she was part of a group of African athletes who had disappeared and were believed to have either gone into hiding or sought asylum in the UK. It is not known if Camara stayed in the UK or returned home after her visa expired, but the UK government revealed in 2015 that 132 athletes and coaches from London had not returned home in 2012 and were still in the UK at the time.
