Degago (also Dagago or Degego ) is a small village near Ayisha in the woreda Ayisha in the Shinile zone of the Somali region of Ethiopia . The place name means "cuts the ear" in Somali and refers to the strong winds in the area.

In 1989 a camp was set up near Degago for refugees from Somalia who fled the heavy fighting between the Barre regime and the rebels of the SNM . The local Somali - who traditionally live as nomads and are repeatedly affected by drought - also benefited from this camp , because they were able to use the health care in the camp and found work there. In 2005 the UNHCR was able to close the Ayisha or Aisha camp as the majority of the refugees returned to the meanwhile peaceful Northern Somalia / Somaliland . The refugees from southern and central Somalia, where the civil war continues , were transferred to the last camp at Kebri Beyah .
