Deinomenids

The Deinomenids were a family of rulers or tyrants in Greek Sicily in the 6th and 5th centuries BC. Chr.

They included:

  1. Gelon (540 BC – 478 BC), tyrant of Gela and Syracuse
  2. Hieron I (also Hiero I ; † 466 BC), tyrant of Gela and Syracuse
  3. Polyzalus , tyrant of Gela (from him there is a votive gift with charioteer in Delphi )
  4. Thrasybulus , tyrant of Syracuse
