The Delaite Island ( French Ile Delaite ) is a 1.5 km long and 900 m wide island before the Danco Coast of Graham lands north of the Antarctic Peninsula . In the north-central part of Wilhelmina Bay , it is 5 km northeast of Emma Island .
Participants in the Belgica expedition (1897–1899) of the Belgian polar explorer Adrien de Gerlache de Gomery discovered the island. He named it after Julien Delaite (1868–1922), a political activist from Wallonia and sponsor of the research trip .
