Josef Walk

Josef Walk (born May 22, 1902 in Munich , † October 18, 1978 in Linz ) was an Austrian Christian social politician . From 1934 to 1938 he was mayor of Steyr , from 1955 to 1959 he was vice mayor of Linz.

Life

Walk came to Linz at elementary school age, where he graduated with honors in 1921. From 1921 to 1925 he studied law at the University of Vienna ; Doctorate to Dr. iur. In 1931 he became a civil servant at the tax office in Steyr, and in 1934 at the office of the Upper Austrian state government. On November 13, 1934, he was elected mayor of Steyr by the local council. He held this office until his dismissal by the National Socialists on March 12, 1938.

From 1938 to 1945 he worked as a civil servant in various offices, including a. with the Reich Governor for Upper Danube; from 1946 back to the Upper Austrian state government as head of department. From 1949 to 1955 he was City Councilor for Construction and Transport in Linz, and from 1955 to 1959 Linz Deputy Mayor.

Walk was buried in the St. Barbara cemetery in Linz.
