Jacques Delfeld

Jacques Delfeld Sr. (Born October 15, 1951 in Luxembourg ) is chairman of the Association of German Sinti and Roma - Rhineland-Palatinate State Association and deputy chairman of the Documentation and Cultural Center of German Sinti and Roma .

In the foreground of his civil rights work is the social equal treatment and the preservation of the cultural independence of the minority and the minority language Romanes , so in 2015 the state center for political education in Rhineland-Palatinate. The association, which Delfeld has headed since 1988, was founded in 1983 and is a member of the Central Council of German Sinti and Roma , which has existed since February 1982. Jacques Delfeld is also involved in the establishment and maintenance of memorials and memorials for victims of National Socialism and participates in the development of relevant exhibitions.

In 2005, Rhineland-Palatinate was the first federal state to acknowledge its responsibility towards the members of the "national minority of the Sinti and Roma " in a written contract with the regional association .
