Delfino Codazzi

Delfino Codazzi (born March 7, 1824 in Lodi , † July 21, 1873 in Pavia ) was an Italian mathematician . He was initially a teacher at high schools ( Licei ) in Lodi and Pavia, from 1865 professor at the University of Pavia and was particularly concerned with differential geometry .

In 1859 he found the Mainardi-Codazzi equations for the theory of surfaces in three-dimensional space, but the work was only published ten years after his death.
