delirium is a Swiss literary magazine that appears online and in print twice a year. It was founded in 2013 in Zurich as a platform for literary debates. Each literary contribution is accompanied by an analysis written by the critics . Since 2015 it has had the subtitle “Zeitschrift gegen Literatur”.
Conception
On the website of the magazine under "delirium in four points" is:
- “A free literary magazine for everyone, published online and in print twice a year.
- Each literary text is then analyzed in a review.
- In essays and literary contributions, opens discussions that span several issues.
- Use his blog to continue these debates and start new ones. "
The magazine was founded in order to provide a place for a lack of "discussion between everyone who has anything to do with literature", as the first editorial says. The printed literary texts (prose, drama and lyric poetry) are related to the previous editions: "What is needed are artistic answers to the texts that have already appeared."
Once selected, the texts are commented on by critics who have also applied to the magazine.
“Instead of keeping the sensitive poets at a safe distance from the biting critics, the two are confronted directly in the magazine. That means: All published texts are immediately and critically appraised in the same edition. [...] The criticism should be followed by a criticism of the criticism, and so on, so that an endless discourse will always decide what and how criticism is. "
The second part of the magazine is devoted to essays that deal with the objectives of the magazine. Unpublished essays appear on the blog in addition to the texts in the print issue.
