The Delmenhorster BV (officially Delmenhorster Ballspielverein 1912 eV ) is a sports club from Delmenhorst . The first football team in the 1947/48 season belonged to the then second-rate Bremen amateur league .

history

At the end of 1911, some employees of the North German wool combing & worsted spinning mill began to meet regularly to play football. On May 1, 1912, Delmenhorster BV was created. In 1924 the DBV rose to the district class and became champions four years later. With a 2-1 win over local rivals FC Roland , DBV made it to the top division. However, the DBV could not compete there. Because of the football revolution , the 1928/29 season was canceled and when the game was resumed a year later, the DBV had to continue playing in the second division.

In 1947 the DBV was one of the founding members of the Bremen Amateur League, but rose again as the penultimate. Shortly thereafter, the club switched to the game operations of the Lower Saxony Football Association . In 1950, the Delmenhorst runners-up were the third-class amateur league 2 , where the club had to change relay frequently. In 1960, the DBV rose from the amateur league after the playoff against SG Diepholz was lost 4-0. Thirteen years later, the club also dropped out of the district class and ended up in the district class in 1983. In 2014 the DBV was relegated to the 3rd district class and in 2018, after two ascents in a row, made the jump to the 1st district class.

In addition to football, the club also offers gymnastics and darts table football .
