The Demay Point ( French Pointe Demay ) is a cape on King George Iceland in the South Shetland Islands , the western side of the entrance to Admiralty Bay marked.
The cape had been known to seal hunters since 1822. However, it was only named by the French polar explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot during the Fifth French Antarctic Expedition (1908-1910). It is named after A. Demay, Vice President of the Société d'océanographie du Golfe de Gascogne in Bordeaux . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names transferred the French name to English in 1952.
