The Democratic Liberal Party ( Armenian Ռամկավար Ազատական Կուսակցութիւն or in reformed orthography Կուսակցություն, Ramkawar Asatakan Kusakzutjun , French Parti libéral démocrate arménien ) is an Armenian party . It is also known by the Armenian name Ramkavar Asatakan in other languages .

The Democratic-Liberal Party is considered to be the oldest party in Armenia. Since 2000, it has had a member of the Lebanese National Assembly who was re-elected in 2005.

history

It was founded in 1885 under the name Armenakan in Van , which was mostly inhabited by Armenians until the Armenian genocide. In Lebanon , where many survivors of the genocide had fled, the party reorganized in exile, while in the Democratic Republic of Armenia it never had any influence. In 1921 many disappointed members of the Social Democratic Hntschak Party were accepted and the party was given its new name (the majority of the Hntschak Party stood by the Bolsheviks for a long time , even after they came to power in Armenia, and was regarded by many Armenians in Lebanon as the “poor of Moscow "). For a long time, the Democratic Liberal Party was the smallest of the three Armenian parties in Lebanon (the third and strongest is the Armenian Revolutionary Federation ).

Election results

In the final phase of the Armenian SSR , the Democratic Liberal Party was allowed to become active again in Armenia, and was officially registered in June 1991. However, it has not yet been able to re-establish itself in the Republic of Armenia . In the parliamentary election on May 25, 2003, she received 2.9% of the vote and failed to meet the five percent threshold. She did not run for the 2007 election. On April 3, 2008, the Democratic Liberal Party merged with two other small parties, the Daschink Party and the National Rebirth party.
