Democratic Israel ( Hebrew : ישראל דמוקרטית, Yisrael Demokratit ) is a political party in Israel that was founded by Ehud Barak in 2019 .

history

Ehud Barak, former Prime Minister and Defense Minister of Israel, announced on June 26, 2019 a press conference along with former General Yair Golan , the law professor Yifat Biton and the entrepreneur Kobi Richter, the founding of a new party that at the parliamentary elections in September will attend .

At the end of July, the party joined forces with Meretz to form the Democratic Union alliance. Ehud Barak, although he is one of the leading figures in the alliance, only made it to tenth place on the joint electoral list at his own request.

The Democratic Union won five parliamentary seats. Jair Golan was the only MP for Democratic Israel to enter the Knesset .
