Denise Betsema (born January 23, 1993 in Oudeschild ) is a Dutch cyclist who specializes in cyclocross .

Athletic career

As a junior, the Dutch woman was a good mountain biker. In 2006 she won the Dutch mountain bike championship.

In 2018 she was third in the Süpercross Baden in Switzerland and she finished the 2018/19 season in the superprestige cyclocross in third, behind the four-time winner, the Belgian Sanne Cant .

In February 2019 in Bogense, Denmark, she narrowly missed a World Cup medal in fourth place.

Denise Betsema was, as announced in April, tested positive for anabolic steroids on January 27, 2019 as part of the World Cup final in Hoogerheide in the Netherlands and was banned for six months. Betsema denied all allegations and stated that she had received a contaminated nutritional supplement.

Personal

Denise Betsema became the mother of a son in 2011 and is a mother of two after the birth of her daughter in 2014.
