Denise Eger

Denise Leese (Davida) Eger (born March 16, 1960 ) is an American rabbi and president of the Central Conference of American Rabbis .

Life

Eger grew up in Memphis , Tennessee . Eger studied Jewish theology at the University of Memphis , the University of Southern California, and the Hebrew Union College . In 1988 she was ordained a rabbi in New York City. As a rabbi she worked at the Beth Chayim Chadashim Synagogue in Los Angeles . In June 2008, she led the wedding of LGBT activists Robin Tyler and Diane Olson as rabbi. She works as an openly gay rabbi in the United States and is a member of Reform Judaism . She has been President of the Central Conference of American Rabbis since March 2015 .
