Monument to the Executive
The executive memorial is a memorial to the executive officers killed on duty and is located next to the outer castle gate in Vienna's 1st district, Inner City . It was given its intended purpose in 2002 by Federal President Thomas Klestil .
history
The erection of the monument was initiated in 2000 at the instigation of the Safe Austria Board of Trustees, chaired by Michael Sika . Originally, locations at Vienna's Central Cemetery and Minoritenplatz were also under discussion.
The monument
The design of the monument comes from Florian Schaumberger . In front of it there is an inscription in the ground: " Victims in fulfillment of duty. Dedicated to the police officers and gendarmes killed on duty. "
