The Denne Witzer street is a street in Jüterbog . The road begins at the Schloßstraße / Am Dammtor fork and ends at the end of the village. From here you can get to Dennewitz via Rohrbeck , both districts of Niedergörsdorf . Five houses and the Jüterbog-Damm air base are listed as historical monuments in the street. A detailed list can be found in the list of architectural monuments in Jüterbog .

history

The street was named Dennewitzer Straße after Damm was incorporated into Jüterbog. Before that, the houses in Damm only had numbers. Since the houses kept their number when the street was named, the numbering in the street is incomplete. In 1937 the road was widened and paved and a footpath was laid.

At the end of the village in the south the pig gate stood from 1540, but it is no longer there today. This is where the bare pond is located.

Houses

The houses in the street were built in the late 19th century. Most of them are homesteads with facades in the style of the Wilhelminian era . At the exit is on the road Denne Witzer former airbase Jüterbog-Damm. The listed houses are:

Dennewitzer Straße 6: The homestead consists of a residential building, a barn and stable buildings. It was probably built in 1875. There is a passage on the left. The facade is made of stucco and has been preserved in its original form.

Dennewitzer Straße 15: The homestead was built at the beginning of the 20th century. It consists of a house with a wing, a barn and a stable on the courtyard side. There are also two stables on the street side. The stables each have a passage and blind windows, the facade is made of brick. The stucco facade of the house has been preserved.

Dennewitzer Straße 16: The house is part of a homestead. It was built around 1900. The yellow brick facade is richly structured.

Dennewitzer Straße 20: The house is part of a small farm. It was built in the middle of the 19th century. It is quite small with three axes, the roof is eaves. In 1935, a garage was set up in the barn, the lettering on the house is still there. The building structure of the house is bad.

Dennewitzer Straße 28: The remains of a brick oven that was built around 1850 are on the property. There is a brickworker's house on the street, which was probably built at the end of the 19th century.

Jüterbog-Damm Air Base

In 1916, a reconnaissance flying school was built here. The tasks included the observation of ground troops with the help of balloons, airships and airplanes. After the First World War , according to the Versailles Treaty , the air base could no longer be used and was shut down. In 1934 the air base was rebuilt under the name Deutsche Verkehrsflieger-Schule. This year three hangars and one hangar were built.

After the Second World War , the Red Army used the site, but not as an airfield. In 1994 the Red Army left the site. Today the area is used for civilian purposes and cannot be entered.
