The Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources (DIER) was a government agency of the Tasmania government responsible for managing the state's infrastructure until 2014 . She reports to David O'Byrne (Minister for Infrastructure), Bryan Green (Minister for Energy and Natural Resources) and Nick McKim (Minister for Sustainable Transport). The final leader was Norm McIlfatrick.

The authority was divided into several main areas:

  • The Office for Infrastructure , which is responsible for the operation, expansion and maintenance of the road network with a total length of 3660 km.
  • The Office of Energy Planning and Conservation, which coordinates Tasmania's energy supply. Responsible for example for Hydro Tasmania the operator of hydropower plants .
  • Mineral Resources Tasmania, responsible for awarding and monitoring concessions for the extraction of raw materials.
  • The Office of Racing, responsible for horse and greyhound racing .

In addition, the agency supported public transport, forestry and the railways of Tasmania.

The authority has merged into the newly created Department of State Growth (Tasmania) .
