List of highways in Tasmania

Location of Tasmania

The highways in Tasmania connect Hobart and other major cities with each other, with secondary roads turn them to each other to connect.

The only federally funded AusLink roads in Tasmania are the Midland , Bass, and East Tamar Highway . The busiest roads include the Tasman and Brooker Highway with over 60,000 and 40,000 vehicles a day, respectively. The government of Tasmania is fighting to have these highways included in the federally funded transport network.

The Tasmanian names for the highways are usually derived from geographical regions, features or cities along the way. With the exception of the National Highway , all roads are divided according to an alphanumeric number system. The highways of the top hierarchy have an A with a corresponding number, the second-level a B with a consecutive number. The system was introduced in 1979. Before that, the numbering system for national and state routes that is common in other states was also used in Tasmania.

Below is the list of all 53 highways in Tasmania.
