Tasmania

The Arthur Highway is a road in the northwest of the Australian state of Tasmania . It runs from Sorell to Port Arthur on the Tasman Peninsula .

course

The road branches off the Tasman Highway in Sorell to the east and leads southeast. At Dunally it crosses the Denison Canal and then crosses the Forestier Peninsula . In Eaglehawk Neck it reaches the Tasman Peninsula and crosses it in a southerly direction to Port Arthur. The most important secondary road is the Nubeena Road (B27) which opens up the city of the same name on the west coast of the Tasman Peninsula.

The Arthur Highway provides the only road access to the two peninsulas southeast of Hobart .

particularities

The road is notorious for its dangerousness. It was not until 2004 that the Lyell Highway , which is also very dangerous, outstripped it in the number of accidents.
