The East Tamar Highway is a trunk road in the north of the Australian state of Tasmania . It connects Launceston with the coastal town of George Town along the east bank of the Tamar River .

The road begins in downtown Launceston and runs northwest through the suburb of Mowbray . Shortly after leaving the urban area, the George Town Road (B81) is connected. Via Dilston and Mount Direction over the east bank of the Tamar River, the East Tamar Highway leads to the junction of the Batman Highway (B73), in the course of which the only bridge on the Tamar River, the Batman Bridge , connects the East Tamar Highway with the West Tamar Highway .

The road continues to the northwest via the connection to Bridport Road (B82) to the end point in George Town at Port Dalrymple . There, the Low Head Road to the coastal settlement of Low Head connects to the north-northwest .
