The West Tamar Highway is a trunk road in the north of the Australian state of Tasmania . It connects Launceston along the west bank of the Tamar River with the coastal settlement of Greens Beach .

course

The highway begins in downtown Launceston and runs northwest through the suburbs of Riverside and North Riverside . After leaving the urban area, the West Tamar Highway connects the wine-growing towns along the Tamar River, such as Legana and Exeter, and is the next town in Beaconsfield . A few kilometers beforehand it is connected to the East Tamar Highway via the only bridge on the Tamar River, the Batman Bridge on the Batman Highway (B73) .

Beaconsfield leaves the West Tamar Highway north and follows the curved shoreline of Port Dalrymple from Beauty Point via Iffraville to Yorktown . In Yorktown, the road turns north again until it reaches the settlement of Kelso at the entrance to the natural harbor. From there it is only a short distance to the west-northwest to the end point in Greens Beach .
