Depot I from Prague-Kobylisy

The depot I von Prag-Kobylisy (also Hortfund I von Prag-Kobylisy ) is a depot find of the Early Bronze Age Aunjetitz culture from Kobylisy , a district of Prague , Czech Republic . It dates between 2000 and 1800 BC. The depot is now in the National Museum in Prague.

Find history

The depot was discovered by collectors next to a brick factory on December 3, 1912. The site is at the southeastern foot of an elongated hill. Here was a settlement of the Iron Age Bylaner culture .

It is one of numerous depot finds from the urban area of ​​Prague. In 1923 a second depot of the Aunjetitz culture was found in Kobylisy just 350 m away .

composition

The depot consists of two solid bronze oval rings. These have thinned, straight cut ends with sloping grooves. Traces of cast seams can be seen on the inside. The total weight of the two rings is 1.25 kg.
