Kobylisy (German Kobilis ) is a district of the Czech capital Prague in the 8th district .
geography
Kobylisy is located in the north of Prague north of the great loop of the Vltava . In the north, the district is bordered by the forest Ďáblický háj , from which the Ládví rises, in the southeast by the Liberecká expressway, which merges into the D8 motorway on the outskirts . Neighboring districts are Ďáblice (NE), Střížkov (O), Libeň (S), Troja (SW) and Čimice (NW).
Tram lines 10, 14, 17, 24 and 25 pass through Kobylisy; Lines 14 and 25 end opposite Vozovna Kobylisy , one of Prague's seven wagon depots , on the northern edge of the district. The eastern part consists of a prefabricated housing estate with around 10,000 residents, the western part consists of single-family houses.
Since 2004, the district is through the Kobylisy metro station and subway station Ládví the line Metro C developed.
history
The place was first mentioned in 1297 under the name Kobolisy. Kobylisy was incorporated into Prague in 1922.
The shooting Kobylisy ( Kobyliska střelnice ), which in the north on Ďáblický háj is located, was built by the Nazis in 1942 for mass executions used. It was declared a National Cultural Monument in 1978 and is now a memorial.
