Depot I from Prague-Suchdol

The depot I of Prague-Suchdol (also Hortfund I of Prague-Suchdol ) is a depot find of the Early Bronze Age Aunjetitz culture from Suchdol , a district of Prague , Czech Republic . It dates between 2000 and 1800 BC. The depot is now in the National Museum in Prague.

Find history

The depot was discovered in 1928. No information is available on the exact circumstances of the find. The site is on Kozí hřbety, a prominent rock ridge west of Suchdol. Here the depot was in a short but deep gorge.

It is one of numerous depot finds from the urban area of ​​Prague. Two other deposits come from Suchdol, but they date from the late Bronze Age.

composition

The depot consists of ten bronze objects : two spout-handle daggers , two corresponding handle knobs (although it is unclear which knob belongs to which dagger), three full- handle daggers (one of which is in a metal sheath), a wooden handle dagger and a stick dagger blade .
