The apple is off was the last joint program of the academic cabaret Die Nachrichtener . The comedy, written in 1935, was no longer performed because the playgroup had previously been banned by the Nazis . The posse, designed as a cabaret revue, deals with the question “How did the Fall of Man come about in Paradise?” And has quite unusual answers.

1938/39's piece came Helmut Käutner reduced to a one-act play but for the performance by the cabaret comedian of Willy Schaeffer . Erwin Bootz was responsible for the music , directed by Arthur Maria Rabenalt . The actors were Robert Dorsay and Lizzi Waldmüller .

Helmut Käutner also used the program as the basis for the film of the same name , which he made in 1948. Of the news reports, only Bobby Todd played here . Other roles included Bettina Moissi , Joana Maria Gorvin , Arno Assmann , Irene von Meyendorff , Margarete Haagen , Willy Maertens , Bum Krüger and Thea Thiele .
