The messenger from Cassel was a since 1814 in Kassel weekly Volkszeitung . The sheet was aimed at the rural Hessian population. The foundation by the Kassel court advisor, playwright and publisher Anton Niemeyer took place immediately after the end of the Kingdom of Westphalia and the re-establishment of the Electorate of Hesse. The newspaper was printed at the Aubel'schen Buchdruckerei in Kassel. The price for an annual subscription was 52 groschen in the first year . The messenger from Cassel continued to appear at least until the 1850s.
