The stories take place in an imaginary realm of wolves, in which the young protagonists heroically solve all kinds of tasks and fight battles. The center of the wolf universe is the “hinterland”. The novel cycle The Clan of Wolves is part of a series of several chronological novel series. The Legends of Ga'Hoole are part of the novel cycle The Legend of the Guardians and consist of volumes 9-10-11.
