Der Deutsche Weinbau , ddw for short , is a bi-weekly national periodical with topics from viticulture and oenology . It is the official organ of the German Viticulture Association e. V. (DWV) and its regional member associations.

As a popular science journal , it offers a comprehensive, up-to-date overview of the news about work in the vineyard , cellar management tasks and questions of marketing-oriented corporate management. The target group are self-marketing wineries, cask wine marketers, wine-growing companies, producer associations, winegrowers' cooperatives, wine and sparkling wine cellars, as well as the associated service providers such as the supplier industry and educational institutions.

Structure and content

Every issue of ddw contains an editorial, which is written alternately by the two editors-in-chief Christian Schwörer (DWV general secretary) and Holger Klein (Meininger Verlag). The magazine section provides an overview of the latest news from the industry.

In the middle section, Der Oenologe , magazine of the Association of German Oenologists (BDO) is placed every four weeks . International research results as well as diploma theses that were prepared at the Geisenheim Research Institute , the Heilbronn University and in the Viticulture & Oenology course in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse are presented.

Due to its specialist journalistic content, German viticulture is read by both scientists and practitioners. As the bulletin of the committee for technology in viticulture, it functions equally in the field of research and implementation of results on technical innovations.

Current information adapted to the respective stage of the vegetation can be found under the DDW Practical section. This practical relevance is also supplemented by a short survey of three practitioners on current topics.

Information on sponsorship awards, specialist books and study trips complete the information.
