The film is the second studio album by the Berlin pop rock band Jennifer Rostock . It was released on July 10, 2009 on the Warner Music label.

The album was recorded in the Planet Roc Studios in Berlin and produced by Werner Krumme and Christian Baber. The film made it to number 13 in the German album charts, number 18 in Austria and number 63 in Switzerland.

The band was on the Filmriss tour with the album from autumn 2009 to spring 2010 . The deluxe edition of the album contains buttons, a poster, a bag and a preview of the band documentation. There's nothing to see, please have a look! by Hannes Rossacher .

Emergence

The recordings took place immediately after the first tour. The new songs were rehearsed during the tour at the soundcheck. After that, the recordings took place bit by bit, with the band still having room in the studio for new ideas, as the new material was not yet fully developed.

In an interview, Jennifer Weist and Johannes Walter explained the concept of the album title:

"The first thing we knew about the record was the title Jennifer Rostock - The Film .

It is a common thread that runs through everything. It's not a concept album in itself, because the songs were written as we always do: We put what we experience from everyday life, our feelings and experiences, on paper. But everything around it is conceptually summarized. There were trailers, the video for the single looks Hollywood-like, the cover looks like a movie poster, there is an opening and closing credits on the CD ".

The album cover was designed by Alex Brunner. It shows the band members in the costumes of the video You want to do my laundry . In the foreground is Jennifer Weist, in the background the band members. Furthermore, the streets and skyscrapers of a city, several helicopters and a zeppelin can be seen on the album cover.

The writing on the cover is reminiscent of a film logo; at the bottom, the credits are listed in the typical font used on movie posters and DVDs.

Texts

Johannes Walter explained:

“A lot of relationship nonsense, love, but also sex and tenderness. But also things like 'The hustle and bustle of the people in the big city', topics that people know. We just wrap it up a bit cryptically and leave the listeners room for interpretation. "

criticism

The review of the album was quite positive. Matthias Reichel from CDStarts.de praised the work:

"Even considering three or four weaker titles, Jennifer Rostock has succeeded in a worthy successor to her stormy debut. It seems as if the band ironed their sound a little more in the direction of commercialism and the hit parade - but they didn't jeopardize their authenticity. "

- Matthias Reichel, Cdstarts.de

“Jennifer Rostock are not resting on their recipe for success, which earned them so many laurels on their debut. They didn't bury Berlin Pop-Punk, but he gets company with some opulent instrumentation, style variance, synth sounds and a good helping of 80s ... No question: this film should be quite a box-office hit. "

- Nina Hortig, Teleschau
