The circle rolls

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The circle rolls is a biennial event of the Groß-Gerau district , which was carried out for the first time in 2012. A route via public roads in the district is selected. This will be closed to car traffic on a Sunday; instead, cyclists, inline skates and other non-motorized vehicles or pedestrians can “roll around” on this route. The entire population is called upon to participate. In 2016, 30,000 to 40,000 participants were assumed.

Associations and institutions in the communities through which the route passes provide catering, but also interesting exhibitions along the route.

In recent years, the date has been chosen so that it is part of the three-week phase of the participation of the Groß-Gerau district and its municipalities on city cycling . This means that the kilometers “cycled” on this day of action also count in the evaluation of city cycling. Many municipalities organize special bike tours for participation.
