The Württemberger is a German-speaking little poem in rhyming pairs, a "afterlife story", which was probably written in the 14th century.

The text has come down to us in five manuscripts from the period from 1393 to the beginning of the 16th century. There are several versions that differ greatly from one another.

The hero, a knight Ulrich or Erempold, servant of the (fictional) Count Hartmann von Württemberg, encounters a group of deaths while hunting. All not ride with her lovers, only one woman, as their mistress , the castle of taverns, is still alive. He is the hero's godfather, and the woman tells him to warn him when he returns to the world, so that he may repent. In a hostel, the shining world of the dead turns out to be agony. Back in the world, the hero goes on a crusade with the Schenkenburger .
