The simple-minded Simon (original title: Simple Simon ) is a cartoon from the ComiColor Cartoons series . It was released on November 15, 1935 by the film company Celebrity Productions . The music comes from the pen of the composer Carl Stalling .

action

Simon steals a cake from his landlady and eats it with his goose. However, he is caught by his landlady and put in front of the door. He wonders what to do next. Meanwhile, some characters from the Mother Goose stories pass by him to have fun at the fair .

He follows them and meets a baker who offers him some delicacies. Simon tries numerous cakes until the baker demands money for them. Simon runs away and hides under the cloak of a visitor to the fair to avoid the baker's eyes. There is a jury at the fair , where the most beautiful goose is selected. The jurors decide in favor of Simon's goose.

When they want to pay Simon the prize money, he flees from them. He runs in the direction of the baker and has to flee from him again. When he escapes, he ends up in a lion cage and is driven away by a lion. The baker knocks on the cage door and is attacked by the lion. Simon saves the baker. This is not recognizable and also suggests a friendship between the two.

Simon flees in the direction of the jurors, and they pay him the prize money. However, the baker is chased away by the lion.

Nothing is known about the dubbing of the cartoon as it has not been documented.

Background information

The film was released for home theater by Castle Films back in 1940 on 16mm film reel. During the 1980s and 1990s the film was released several times on VHS. In Germany, the cartoon was released on a VHS from the Kids Collection .

The song I'm Just Plain and Simple can be heard in the film.
