Willi Birn
Willi Karl Birn (born June 2, 1907 in Stuttgart ; † September 20, 2000 in Tübingen ) was a German administrative clerk , lawyer and district president of South Württemberg-Hohenzollern .
Life
After graduating from high school in 1931 at the Dillmann Gymnasium in Stuttgart and training as an administrative clerk, Willi Birn studied law in Tübingen .
After the Second World War, he worked for some time in the Office for Home Service, which was incorporated into the State Ministry of Württemberg-Baden as the successor to the former Reich Center for Home Service .
In 1954, Willi Birn was co-author of The Constitution of the State of Baden-Württemberg , which at that time was the standard work for the interpretation of the constitution of the State of Baden-Württemberg after the establishment of the State of Baden-Württemberg.
From 1958, Willi Birn was President of the District of South Württemberg-Hohenzollern for 14 years, with his official seat in Tübingen.
While still president of the district, Willi Birn was elected chairman of the Swabian Heimatbund in 1969, whose goals of nature conservation , national culture and monument preservation were particularly close to his heart. For 15 years, until 1984, he devoted himself to this honorary position. The end of his time as chairman was the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Heimatbund in the New Palace in Stuttgart in the spring of 1984. After that, he waived re-election and was elected by the members as the first honorary chairman of the Heimatbund.
In 1975 he and his wife Rut supported the former district court director Hedwig Maier in the construction of the Professor-Rebel-Haus, a student residence in the student village Waldhäuser Ost in Tübingen. This has a total of 59 apartments, especially for student couples with children. The basis for the financing was the legacy of the former director of the Tübingen Dental Clinic, Hans Rebel and his wife Doris.
Willi Birn was buried in the Tübingen mountain cemetery.

- In 1978 he was awarded the Felix von Hornstein Medal by the Federation for Nature Conservation in Oberschwaben eV for services to nature and people .
- In 1980 he received the Baden-Württemberg Medal of Merit .
