The flowing rock

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The flowing rock is a semi- documentary TV series (Federal Republic of Germany, 1989) on the subject of concrete and cement and their origins. Six episodes were filmed with Peter Ustinov in the lead role .

Serial plot

At the time of the great volcanic eruption of Vesuvius , during which Pompeii sank and sank in ash and cinder mass, an old Roman (Peter Ustinov) woke up the next day and, to his horror, had his legs stuck in a strange, very solid " stone " puddle . It was only with difficulty that he got his feet out of the hard slag . From this key scene an action takes its course that starts from antiquity and traces the historical discovery and development of modern building materials up to modern times .

Development into a cult series

The flowing rock is still used today (shortened to a feature film) as an educational film in public educational institutions. Aside from the didactic aspects, the six original episodes developed into a downright small cult series , which has since grown to become a veritable small cult series , mainly due to the Ustinov scene with the feet in the concrete (which was repeated in full length at the beginning of the other five episodes) has not formed a small fan base. The series is now also available on video and as DVD , both in the cut film version. This film was shot based on an idea and based on the script of the German author EWHeine.
