The Great Awakening - The Pioneers of America (originally The Men Who Built America ) is an American miniseries from 2012. It tells of America's rise to a world power.
The series was shot in four episodes, but it was also broadcast in eight and three ( ZDF ) episodes. It was produced by Stephen David Entertainment .

The documentary series focuses on America's rise to global economic power in the mid-19th and early 20th centuries through the innovations and successes of the most influential entrepreneurs J. P. Morgan , John D. Rockefeller , Andrew Carnegie , Cornelius Vanderbilt and Henry Ford .
Rockefeller, for example, lit America with its oil lamps until JP Morgan entered the incandescent lamp business with direct current . However, this was in turn sold by Nikola Tesla , who discovered the two-phase alternating current .
