The cheerful Fridolin is a German comic magazine that was published by Alfons Semrau Verlag in Hamburg from December 1958 . It was published with the subtitle “Zeitschrift der Jugend” from December 1958, originally every fortnight, and until it was discontinued in January 1961, which took place without giving reasons, it had a total of 54 issues. In its first edition, it was clearly distinguished from the bearers of the same name published between 1921 and 1928 , which were published by Ullstein Verlag .

The full four-color magazine cost 0.75 DM and contained exclusively Franco-Belgian comics, many of which were taken over from the Belgian comic magazine Spirou . Many stories from series that are still popular today, such as Lucky Luke or Spirou and Fantasio , were published in Germany for the first time in “Der hehre Fridolin”. Spirou also served as the magazine's namesake.

Alfons Semrau Verlag has been part of the Bauer publishing group since 1970 .

In Norbert Hethke publishing a reprint of the first 21 books published from 2003 to 2005 at a price of 15.30 euros per copy (from Volume 18: 24.80 euros).
