Derk-Hayo Reimers

Derk-Hayo Reimers (* 1954 ) is a German economist .

Life

After studying economics, Reimers earned his Magister Artium at Kansas State University (USA) in 1980/81 and received his doctorate in 1986 from Justus Liebig University in Giessen . Subsequently, Reimers was entrusted with the management and implementation of various development aid projects for the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) and the Agence francaise de Dévelopment (AfD) for ten years and most recently worked at KfW as Deputy Head of Department for West Africa.

From 1996 to 2018 he was professor of economics at the Giessen-Friedberg University of Applied Sciences, now the Technical University of Central Hesse .

Reimers was one of the 68 main cartoonists in the 2013 election alternative . He was initially a supporter and later also a member of the Alternative für Deutschland party, which was founded in the spring of 2013 , but resigned in June 2015 due to the right-wing populist infiltration and the associated change in the party's program and leadership.
