Geographical location

Żeliszów is located ten kilometers southwest of the city center of Bolesławiec . The A4 motorway runs 14 km northwest. The capital of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Wroclaw , is 85 km (as the crow flies) east of the village.

history

From 1975 to 1998 the village belonged to the Jelenia Góra Voivodeship as part of the Bolesławiec rural community . In 2010, 538 people lived in Żeliszów.

Catholic Johann Nepomuk parish church

In the village there is a Protestant church - a world-class monument - built by the architect Carl Gotthard Langhans in 1796 and 1797. The church has been abandoned since 1945 in a ruinous state and threatens to collapse. The Warsaw Foundation "Twoje Dziedzictwo" (Your Cultural Heritage) has been collecting money since 2013, mainly to repair the roof and to protect the building from further deterioration.

In addition, there is the Catholic parish church of Johann Nepomuk from the middle of the 14th century, which is dedicated to St. Johannes Nepomuk is consecrated. It was rebuilt around 1600 and in the 19th century.
