Det Nordenfjeldske Dampskibsselskab (NFDS) was a Norwegian shipping company.

It was founded on January 28, 1857 in Trondheim and existed until 1989. After it was founded in 1857, the shipping company operated numerous freight and passenger ship routes at home and abroad. It cooperated with Det Bergenske Dampskibsselskab (BDS) on the one hand on the Bergen - Hamburg route and in the South America service, on the other hand they were competitors in coastal traffic and the freight sector.

The shipping company, like BDS, was also one of the most important shipping companies for Hurtigruten . In 1984 the Norcem Group took over the majority of the shares in the shipping company and initially renamed it Nordenfjeldske Shipping , before it was sold on to A / S Kosmos a year later, in 1985, together with BDS, which had also been taken over . The actual shipping business was broken up and the Hurtigruten ships went to Troms Fylkes Dampskibsselskap (TFDS) together with the BDS ships in 1989 . In August 1989, shipping operations under the NFDS flag ended.
